We are proud to announce our newest program to serve the health issues of the women in our community. LAOE and Asian Health Coalition has created the Silk Brocade Project, an innovative program which will target underserved Laotian women for breast and cervical health education along with the opportunity to obtain free mammograms and pap-tests.

Manivong and Janette Nanthavongsa will educate Lao women about the diseases beginning January 2012.

Here is a quote from our board member:

“More than 8,000 Laotian immigrants and refugees live in the Fox Valley area which is the largest in the Midwest region. The Silk Brocade Project is the first women’s health program to be offered in our community and will provide Laotian women with health information in their native language. We are so excited to partner with AHC on this program as it truly is a significant step forward in the prevention of breast and cervical cancer”, explained May Saengpraseuth, Program Director at LAOE.
