On January 28, 2012, The Silk Brocade project had its first educational session. We would like to thank Wat Lao Samaggi of Elgin for hosting a Hepatitis B Educational Session and Screening, where we were able to speak to women about breast and cervical cancer as well. At this event, we were able to educate women about breast and cervical health and refer them to get FREE screenings at the VNA Healthcare Clinic in Elgin Illinois. As a result, we have successfully educated 21 women and referred 15 to get screened to date. Two women in the community have already taken advantage of the free Pap Test and Mammogram. We are thrilled to be able to help the Lao women in our community.
